El Potosino in San Antonio

So from the outside this place looks like a traditional Tex-Mex place. Once you walk in it is something different. It appears to be in the process of transitioning to a hooters/twin peaks/Buffalo wild wings esque sports restaurant bar spot. The music is a bit louder than is comfortable in a restaurant but not quite sports bar level. The waitresses wear short shorts and it is obvious their target audience is not the clientele that was there on a Sunday afternoon. That being said the food was delicious, the chips and salsa were great and the service, even with an obvious language barrier, was very good. Give it a shot if you are in the neighborhood!!!!

Felt as though I was transported to Mexico and not in a good way! The service was horrible. We were sitting at least 10 minutes before anyone approached our table. Then when they did they spoke no English. But my husband speaks a little Spanish and was able to order coffee. We had no menus or napkins. The coffee took another 10 minutes and then she brought the menus. Every waitress in this place was very scantily dressed. Alcohol was being served before 11am. We ordered and when the order came out mine was not correct. We sent it back and when I got it back the size had shrunk by half. When we were finished eating was when the waitress finally decided to ask if we wanted more coffee. This was a sad first impression.

Carne Guisada tacos are on point, lunch specials are too. 🌮 Beef fajitas like a mf. Fideo or chips and salsa with lunch.

Newly remodeled hadn't been here in while. The place looks spaces and cleaner and as always the service is excellent. Had a large menudo and it was delicious.

Service is fast and sincere, food is hot and seasoned nicely, home nade corn tortillas. Perfect!Very pretty wait staff , becarefull you might fall in love..Price is right where it needs to be .Did i mention they have a full bar .Margaritas anyone?

The food is good and we have been coming here for awhile but the dress attire the waitresses wear is not appropriate. I feel the family environment feel is less than it used to be. Therefore we will not be returning here ....

It was good good... wish the flour tortillas were homemade. The red salsa was my highlight!! We'll be back to this restaurant.

If you find yourself at Taco Cabana on San Pedro and 410, for the love of God, please go a block south on the right hand side for your beneficial breakfast tacos at El Potosino. The staff is amazing, pleasant, present and alert! The tacos are more than decent, and the service is relatively quick. I wouldn't go anywhere else for weekend breakfast tacos. Enjoy! Take advantage of this place before it disappears under an enormous restaurant chain.😉

Definitely need a warning sign about how the woman are dressed. Took my son walked right out....

Just left there with my drive through order the food was horrible I did not eat and threw it out. just really not worth the money I paid. I will not be returning.

Food is always hot and fresh. Service is always quick and the people are friendly. We stop by a couple of times a week.

Let's get this out of the way, their mundane tacos have now gone up from 99 cents to $1.29. And not only that, they messed up my order, especially when they had 2 min. of me waiting and no line. C'mon Potosino, get it together.

This is the most authentic Mexican place I have visited in SA. Very local hole in the wall atmosphere and it was packed! High recommend. I have only been once but will visit again and again.

This place should come with warning sign. Took my 2 young sons after church. We had no idea women there dressed like that. The most out of shape waitress was basically in her lingerie and shaking her cellulite in our faces. Doesnt give you much of a appetite seeing that. Food was decent but they were obviously breaking law serving alcohol at 10:45AM on Sunday. Service was horrible. Then they splattered food in my daughter's hair when they put scraps/dish bin right behind her. I should have walked right back out but thought I would give it a try. Never again. This place is definitely meant for men not families.

The service was really bad. I had to go back because my tacos were warm. As long as they took to get my order to me my tacos should have been hot and fresh. Not only that my tacos were made on with corn tortillas. I let them know that I wanted flour tortillas. But was told that they only had corn. This is one restaurant I do not recommend.

Wow, the huaraches are amazing and the staff is super nice too. I ordered mine a little different and they were more than accomodating. Will definitely be back!!!!

I love the food but their breakfast tacos are too expensive and the size for how much you're paying is depressingly small. There are at least 5 other Mexican restaurants in a half mile radius with less expensive and larger breakfast tacos. The size and price of these tacos actually made me change my previous rating from 5 stars to 3 stars because i felt so ripped off when i opened the foil and found a bacon and egg taco smaller than what you can get at taco cabana. What a disappointment. Their lunch plates and dinner plates are still great though, but avoid getting breakfast tacos from the drive-thru at all costs. I want my freaking 12 bucks back.

Usually pretty good, but not this time. A bit salty, and spices for enchiladas were off. Beans tasted old. Tortillas were old and reheated. Rice was dry. Not the restaurant's fault, but an argumentative couple sitting in the next booth did not help matters. May decide to try again but not sure yet.

Ok, the reason I gave a it 3 stars is the following. The food is great, they accommodate to my liken. Why because I gave up meat, seafood and became vegetarian. I put them to the test and they came through. But the servers are dressed like they work at an Adult entertainments and it's not very family, it's targeted clientele are males they do serve anyone that comes through the doors. But like I said I wouldn't bring my 4 year old. It took the server way to long to see if I needed anything. If you can over see this then I highly recommend but not for family. Enjoy

We sat at the bar and had happy hour drinks and a plate of Asada nachos which were wonderful. If you crave nachos, then this is the place. The menu has lots of great options and choices.I most definitely will come back!.
